Charisma chess problems
From july 1996 until august 1999 every sunday a new chess problem
was published on DICS. After 150 problems this problem corner was layed to
rest. Now, one and a half year later, it has been raised from the dead.
Some aspects have changed though. The major change is that instead of 1 problem
every week, there will be 2 problems every month, published both on the 1st
of each month. One of them is called 'regular', the other one 'freak'.
Regular
These are the classical chess problems, like 'white to play
draws'
Type 'examine new regular' to see the regular problem of this month.
Freak
Here almost anything is possible.
For example: 'May black castle?'
Or 'Mate in 7 with knight moves only'
Type 'examine new freak' for the recent freak problem.
Box
Here the previously published regular and freak problems can
be found.
Type 'examine box regular3' for example.
Then 'solution' for the solution.
Golden Oldies
Some of the problems of the early years are also available,
including their solutions.
For example: 'examine golden oldie5'.
Message your solutions or questions to Charisma on DICS. This
account is made exclusively for chess problems, and is not attainable by email.
At the end of the month the 2 problems will be stored in the box, along with
their solutions, so you can examine them later.
Although this chess problem corner is only for fun, a small price may be won
for the solver who will have found the most solutions after 1 year. The 2
categories will be rewarded seperately.
In case you found out you sent a wrong solution, you can always send a correction.
Only the last one counts.
Enjoy!
